July Discord Q&A Details Season 5 Maps, Platoons, and Reworks
Developers from DICE, Motive, and Ripple Effect answered player questions live in the official Discord, and the fullest picture to emerge was of Season 5: three new maps, reworked versions of New Sobek City and Blackwell Fields, Platoons, and an improved Server Browser. Closer at hand, Season 4's second phase arrives August 18 with the Top Gun crossover, Custom Lobbies, and Spectator Mode.
Answers ranged across both games, from reticle visibility to REDSEC's weapon meta.
Still to come in Season 4
Phase 2 on August 18 adds the F/A-81F Super Spectre two-seat jet, whose loadout can be tuned in full, plus the Carrier Strike mode and Fighter Sweep as a new Gauntlet mission.
Custom Lobbies hand hosts an interface for moving players between sides and adjusting settings without restarting, initially supporting Battle Royale Quads and Conquest.
Proximity chat lands in Phase 3 for REDSEC battle royale first, with multiplayer to follow at an unstated later date.
Fort Lyndon gains a Carrier POI, and the naval maps get an editable water level for Portal creators.
Fixes and what isn't planned
The RCB-90 is being made harder to flip and tougher against the Scout Helicopter, with handling changes alongside.
The Anti-Personnel Shell exploit gets a targeted fix later in the season; battlefield pickups return after a tuning pass.
Reticle lighting, sniper sweet spots, TTK, and footstep audio are all in testing or under evaluation, none with a stated timeline; suppression changes would go through Battlefield Labs first.
Commander Mode is not planned, and there are no plans for third-party server rentals either.
"Our vision is targeted set-piece destruction. We want to deliver massive, tactical destruction events that reshape combat zones and sightlines, without changing the fundamental identity or flow of the map." — Roman, Motive
