Playlist Rotation Explained as King of the Hill and Augur Return
A Battlefield Comms statement addresses the playlist rotation that pulled several modes and their Custom Search filters out of matchmaking. EA says the aim is fuller, faster-filling matches by concentrating players in the busiest playlists, and that Custom Search filters only exist for playlists that are currently active, so a rotated-out mode loses its filter too. King of the Hill rejoins an active playlist next week, and Operation Augur comes back for one week now that its outstanding bugs are fixed.
The statement went out on X and the EA Forums Game Info Hub on August 7, answering feedback about missing modes and vanished Custom Search options after the recent playlist changes.
Why modes were pulled: concentrating players in the most active playlists is meant to produce matches that fill faster and more reliably, at the cost of some playlists not always being available.
Custom Search filters are bound to active playlists, which is why a mode's filter disappears when its playlist rotates out and reappears when it returns.
King of the Hill is back in an active playlist from next week's rotation and will show up in Custom Search again.
Operation Augur returns from Season 2 for a single week, with the bugs that had been holding it back now resolved.
Longer term, EA points to Portal Verified modes and the Server Browser as the home for less-played favourites while it keeps looking at ways to fit them into matchmaking.
