Top Gun Update Lands August 18 with Wake Island
The Top Gun Update arrives August 18, bringing back Wake Island as a carrier-anchored naval map alongside two air-combat modes, Carrier Strike and Fighter Sweep. The drop also adds the Interdictor sniper rifle, the two-seat F/A-81F Super Spectre and F-74A Seacat jets, and a crashed-carrier point of interest at Fort Lyndon for Battle Royale.
Battlefield Studios laid out what ships with the phase, plus the gameplay and Portal work landing beside it.
Carrier Strike: attackers take sectors and push to a final objective inside the enemy carrier
Fighter Sweep: a REDSEC Gauntlet mission centred on dogfights and destroying stockpiles
USS Grant: the crashed-carrier POI at Fort Lyndon drops richer loot than standard points and is flagged a High Value Zone for its opening weeks
ADS Dispersion Crosshair: an optional indicator that widens as dispersion grows, on by default only in the Firing Range, with adjustable colour and opacity
Simple Jet Controls: a settings option aimed at new and returning pilots
Time-to-death is longer across most weapons since the last update, so downed players more often land damage first
Advanced Editor Program: selected Portal creators get baked lighting, terrain and heightmap editing, and terrain shader painting
Custom Lobbies and Spectator Mode: also August 18, through Battlefield Labs in Live, starting with Battle Royale Quads and Conquest
In Portal, Tsuru Reef is open to Custom Experiences now, while Wake Island starts in Verified Experiences and opens up later in the season.
