Year 2 preview lays out Season 5 vehicle, Anti-Air and REDSEC changes
An early look at the combat changes planned for Season 5, which opens Year 2 for Battlefield 6 and REDSEC, reworks vehicle health regeneration and damage to reward flanking infantry. Mobile Anti-Air cannons hit aircraft harder, and laser designators need steadier tracking to hold a lock. REDSEC drops two alternate class paths and moves several class gadgets into the loot pool.
The Battlefield team describes the list as work in progress that Battlefield Labs testing can still change, with the full breakdown due in the update notes the day before the season launches.
Battlefield 6 and REDSEC
Little Bird splash damage against infantry goes down
Secondary turrets fire faster but overheat sooner
MBT munitions and missiles get a tuning pass aimed at their intended targets
Air resupply pad cooldowns become per vehicle class, so a jet no longer waits on a helicopter's timer
Attachment tuning plus animation polish for some weapons, gadgets and poses
REDSEC
Ranked bands, reconnects and recommended drop zones (Casual BR only) arrive alongside Rapid Royale
Drone Specialist and Hazmat Breacher paths are removed, and every class training path is rebalanced with new upgrades across four levels
Loot pool gains the Smoke Launcher, Supply Bag, Defibrillator, Breaching Dart and Anti-Drone Gun
One extra bullet to kill against armor for several PDW, carbine, AR, LMG and DMR calibers at set ranges
KTS100 Mk8, SCW-10, SVDM, SG553R and KV9 are slated for meta changes
Armor plating applies significantly faster
Further out in 2027, the team is reviewing explosive balance across gadgets and vehicles, bolt-action sniper power and counterplay, and an improved firing range.
